Many families are able to piece together the supports their child needs by linking services from multiple agencies. But on occasion, something isn’t covered by health insurance. Or the waiting list is too long and you need something much sooner.

When that’s the case, here are some groups we’re aware of that offer one-time grants for treatment evaluation or services, or equipment.

AUTISM SOLUTION PIECES

Up to $500 per year for services or equipment, available to Wisconsin families.

Applications available once per year, due in late October.

Autism Society of Northeast Wisconsin

Up to $1,000 per year for equipment, other goods & services.

Membership and residency in the counties of Brown, Florence, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Shawano required. Children 2-18 given priority, other requests will be considered. Need based. Income limitation of $80,000/yr.

Applications accepted in January, April, July and October.

ANGEL Autism Network

Up to $500 per year for treatment evaluation or services.

Eligible to ASD impacted Wisconsin families. Membership & volunteer hours required.

Up to $500 per year, emphasis on safety and proven treatments or treatment evaluation.

Eligible to ASD impacted Wisconsin families.

Applications accepted year-round, processed quarterly. Emergencies considered – contact for details.

Up to $5,000 per year. Emphasis on effective treatments, assessments & life supports.

Eligible to ASD impacted families, families with multiple autism cases considered first.

Focus on immediate need.

Eligible to US ASD impacted families.

United Healthcare Children’s Foundation

Up to $5,000. Focus: Gifts for uncovered (or partially covered) expenses for families with private insurance. Medicaid-only families are not eligible.

US families are eligible. Many exclusions. Income limits.

Applications accepted year round, decisions are made monthly.

Bridge the Gap

Up to $500 per year. Shawano county residents receive funding preference.

Wisconsin families impacted by ASD are eligible. Focus is on ‘last resort’ requests.

May need to show proof of denial from other agencies. Membership & volunteer commitment required.

Family Support

One-time financial support offered through your county human services office.

Based upon need and funds availability. Some counties have waiting lists.

Eligible costs might include conference registration, emergency equipment or services.

Requests considered at any time.

Generation Rescue – Rescue Family Grant

Focus on biomedical treatment. Predetermined providers, offers 90 day introductory program to biomedical therapy, including diet modification.

Eligible to US families impacted by ASD, not previously using any biomedical therapy or supplements.

OTHER ORGANIZATIONS

Easter Seals- To enhance the quality of life for everyone with disabilities.

Wisconsin’s Regional Centers for Children & Youth with Special Health Care Needs are staffed by specialists who can help get answers, find services and connect you to community resources. Their services are free, unbiased and private.

TECHNOLOGY GRANTS

Some families have heard about the benefits of assistive technology or iPads for their kids on the spectrum, especially those with speech difficulties. There is a lot of interest, but sometimes the costs associated with this technology can make it cost prohibitive.
